  It’s all blame and a claim culture now. It's a nice idea but independent business owners are probably not going to be able to pay that without cutting hourly contracts to make the difference up. In retail its already bad enough. As a manager I'm usually the only full timer working. There is no loyalty from staff and I can't blame them when they have to get multiple jobs just to pay the bills. We are told to have people in depending on the needs of the business with is nigh on impossible when people have other commitments like kids and other work. We are now Lone working with large amounts of cash, having to leave shop floors unattended to get stock and being threatened almost daily by the homeless and drug addicts who have no fear because there are no consequences from there actions. In 2014 a lady known to me had a carer for 15 minutes per visit, of 3 a day. the girl dropped a coin on the floor and searched for it and commented I only get £3.85p per hour . That is disgraceful as her wage will not be a great deal higher if she is still under 25 yrs old . The last 9 yrs have been cruel beyond believe for many workers. The rise is useless as the items in the shops are going up on a daily basis . Because most businesses will pay people the same anyway, however, businesses hiring mainly young or students where they are either starting on the career path or as a stop gap aren't paying as high as those where people are actually working in a more permanent capacity. It would make sense to have a deterrent against the united states given that the US both seeks to overthrow it's national government, and has actually had armies on it's soil and bombed it's cities. Every year the US does military exercises immediately south of it's border in which it simulates an invasion.
