 Public tours, which are limited to 50 people, are designed to accommodate individuals and families, not large groups.  In commemoration of African American History Month, the Library of Congress on Feb. 3 will launch a new online exhibition about the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), an organization which has donated its records to the Library, where they are the most-consulted collection. On Feb. 26, the Library of Congress also will hold a symposium on the NAACP in room LJ119 of the Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First St. S.E., Washington, D.C., from 10 a.m. to noon. The symposium will be free and open to the public. Joining Dr. James H. Billington,AARP Vice-President, Multicultural Markets Edna Kane-Williams; and invited guests.

  I was crying and in a distressed state, and a gentleman on the way that I saw approached me to check I was ok and said he would walk me home. I felt like I couldn’t say no, and luckily for my sake he was one of the good ones and actually did walk me to my door and then leave without hurting me. Looking back, that could have so easily ended up differently. In hindsight I wasn’t in the right frame of mine to be going out and partying because that’s something I would never do now. I just feel so much for the women who have no choice but to walk places alone frequently, because it must be so draining on a regular basis.  Morton, a forest carbon expert, will speak about NASA’s satellite data and climate models, which have projected drier conditions that will likely cause increased fire activity across the United States in coming decades, with an increase in frequency of extreme events.
